Ch. 27 - Kumquat Test

In case you weren't sure where 'Kumquat Test' came from...It comes from a reference to the fact that Lorelai made in season 5. She said the only time she ever craved fruit was when she was pregnant with Rory. Moving that reference to this chapter, Lorelai assumed that if Rory were pregnant, she would also crave fruit. Thus, the 'kumquat test' to see if Rory was pregnant. Hope that clears up confusion if there was any.

When do you think the next chapter will be posted?

If I had to guess, I'd say either later this week or early next week. As I said, we're about half way done. Probably a little more at this point.

The update is coming soon so it won't be much longer.

    Thanks Jane!

I appreciate you thinking that the blog is nice. I hope you continue to like the images that are coming up in the future.

As for an update, we're aiming for later this week. But, that's our aim and, as you probably know, sometimes things get delayed. But hopefully either the end of this week or the beginning of next you'll see the next chapter.

For 27, it's now at about 16 pages in word pages. We're probably talking about 9-10 more pages before it's finished.

I'm glad you like the dress chocoholic4824. I thought it was beautiful too.

And yes, this is a long chapter, and it's probably going to end up being the longest one so far, but only by a few pages. Most of the other chapters are somewhere around 20-23 pages.

Have you two considered writing a sequel?

just wanted to let you know again how much i loved chapter 27. It was absolutely worth the wait. I just loved everything about it. It was something i predicted happening after they got married, but you put it in now. Thanks for all the effort you guys are putting into this story, and keeping us updated. I really appreciate it. :)

Thanks again for waiting for the chapter and your review chocoholic4824. And to everyone else for waiting as well! We both appreciate your comments and loyalty to the story.

As for Rory's office finding out her true identity after they got married, it wasn't something we considered, but I'm sure it could have been an interesting way to go.

We haven't started Ch. 28 yet but do have some brainstormed ideas. Hopefully, it will be up a lot sooner than it took to do this chapter, but usually chapters don't take as long to write since 27 was just sooo long.

And, as for a sequel. There is still a ways to go before this story wraps up. But, we are considering a sequel for when it finally does. Just don't want to commit to one or start one without enough ideas to carry it through to the same standards as what TGOL has been so far.

But, if anyone has ideas for this story or a sequel, send them my way. While this story's outline is set, random things are added at the last minute (like the Lorelai kumquat test - that was provided because there are two words we decided just had to make it into the story and kumquat was one - the other hasn't be used yet) provided we can put it somewhere in the story without it being too much of a tangent.

Are you two going to get back to your old schedule of posting once a week? I'm not trying to pressure you to, if you can't, I was just wondering.

I love your story, and I hope that this month is way better than last month.

Not so much a comment to the topic as a reply to a request from both a reader and you for ideas for the sequel.

How about doing it from another perspective where the sequel is about Rory and Logan's friends and their lives, but still contains plenty of chapters and moments for Rory and Logan. For instance exploring Stephanie and Colin getting married, and/or the course that Bri and Finn's relationship take.

Don't know if this will work since I don't know where TGOL will end but thought this at least provided a lot to write about.

    Another ideas:
1)1st year of marriage : Logan gets more involved in the business and Rory moves from the Observer as a City writer to the Times as an international corresponent. How does this affect there life, especially with all their current social commitment and the fact that Logan is the boss? Kids? Planning that all important anniversary.

    Just some ideas.

I do have a critique though. While I think every dress you all have picked is beautiful, they don't seem .. how shall we say... expensive enough. These are society fuctions, where people spend a thousands on a dress that is conservative, yet on the cutting edge of fashion. I just don't want to see you both limit yourself especially when spring fashion season is here. YEA!

As I'm not one to give critiques without also providing help and encouragement, here is a website I thought you both would enjoy.

    http://nymag.com/fashion/fashionshows/

It also lets you sort by an array of things so that might help also. And before you say it, I know, they are some dresses that just are not meant to be worn off the runway. :-)

Story is coming along great! Can't wait for the next chapter. Kep up the great writing and research.

Thanks for the comment and suggestions. Your ideas for a sequel are good but we'll have to see where the story ends up before determining the entire course of the sequel. But, definitely keep sending them if you think of them. I think you will see more about Colin and Steph and Finn and Bri in the upcoming chapters and based on what our initial ideas for a sequel are, you will definitely see more of them.

And, thanks for the link to fashion week. As for the clothing, we actually had a discussion about what they should be wearing and we decided on what we showed. In my mind, it was similar to what people have worn on the show. But, it doesn't hurt to look at the big designers. We've been finding the majority of the jewelry we've been showing at Cartier, Tiffanys, and Harry Winston, but I guess that wasn't moved into the clothing aspect...

Thanks for the comment and suggestions! Sorry it took so long for me to reply - I wanted to get through the site you send before posting a response.
